CPRS – KSU Partnership is Pioneering AI Advancements in Recovery Auditing

Bellevue, WA (March 2025) – Designed to explore emerging Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) concepts in recovery auditing, a new partnership between CPRS, Inc. and Kennesaw State University (KSU) is expanding the boundaries of cost recovery technology.

Through an ongoing pilot project conducted in collaboration with KSU’s Center for Data Science and Analytics, faculty and students are working alongside CPRS experts to develop advanced algorithms that enhance duplicate payment detection and optimize data analysis in the cost recovery industry.

“By collaborating with Kennesaw State, a Carnegie-designated doctoral research institution, we can leverage our combined state-of-the-art resources to pioneer AI and ML advancements in our field,” said Dan Berg, Senior Vice President of CPRS, the leading Cost Recovery Audit firm in North America. CPRS delivers innovative solutions to payment-accuracy problems for the world’s largest corporations.

“This partnership demonstrates how cutting-edge research can directly impact and improve industry practices while providing our faculty-and-student team with hands-on experience solving real-world challenges,“ said Dr. Sherry Ni, Chair of the School of Data Science and Analytics at KSU’s College of Computing and Software Engineering. “By collaborating with CPRS, we are advancing AI and machine learning solutions that not only deliver high-value technologies but also prepare our students to lead in data-driven industries.”

The partnership is a multidisciplinary effort, engaging faculty and students from multiple colleges and departments across KSU. Researchers are applying state-of-the-art machine learning and visualization techniques to detect duplicate payments and identify compliance risks.

“By integrating advanced ML and large language models into our technology stack, CPRS can continually enhance the performance and efficiency of our audit solutions. This partnership allows CPRS to continue setting the benchmark for audit, tax, and contract compliance leadership,” Berg concluded.

“I am proud of the work of our team, comprising faculty members from IT and business disciplines, as well as graduate students, who apply state-of-the-art machine learning and visualization techniques to detect duplicate payments,” said Dr. Ying Xie, Professor of Information Technology. “We are excited about the opportunity to expand this partnership to develop further AI solutions addressing compliance challenges in the industry. Collaborating with CPRS enables us not only to advance academic research but also contribute meaningfully to economic development by integrating AI into enterprise applications.”

CPRS helps its clients recover nearly $250,000 every day, uncovering systemic errors and recovering lost profits that traditional ERP systems often miss. For more information about CPRS’ partnership with Kennesaw State, or CPRS cost recovery solutions, contact us.
